The focal mechanism (in the USGS link) is strike-slip with ENE-WSW shortening. The maximum principle (principal?) stress axis is generally ENE-WSW in eastern USA, although I think the Virginia quake a few years ago was not consistent with that.

I have some friends up there that went through that. Woke them up. It mainly rattled pictures on walls and wiggled some pottery. Lasted about 30 seconds.
