The sun has been ore or less active for last few weeks, with geo-magnetic storms. There is one right now.

quite a bit different than the discussions here a few years ago, that the sun would be so inactive this cycle that it would counteract global warming. Just read that after the coldest and second coldest February on record for much of the northeastern United States including here, that it was the second warmest February on record for the globe. NE North America was pretty much the only colder than normal region on the planet. Huge areas of Europe and Asia, as well as western North America including Alaska, were very warm.
