I am very near this. It started about two miles up the road from me. I have hiked the very hills this is burning on. I have a geologic specimen or two from this area. (225mya marine deposits, Bedford Canyon formation)

Fortunately it has so far burned away from me.

Today winds have been very light, and blowing away from me. Though winds can change.

It's been hot - upper 90's. And it's only going to get hotter. Forecasts are for 100-105 for at least the next four days.

This evening it seems to be laying low. Little smoke to be seen. That's a good sign.

This was attacked very quickly. Helicopters were on it within an hour. At the peak of activity there were many different kinds of aircraft - Huey's, a Sikorsky skycrane, I think one was a Martin Mars water bomber, and a DC10, and others, including I think the Canadian planes we lease.

I'm as prepped as I can get. Cat's are in carriers. Car is mostly loaded with the most important stuff. I'd still leave behind some stuff, but I think I have the irreplaceables already.

And then the power goes out for three hours this evening.

I'll provide updates as long as things are ok.

So far, so good. Fire continues to burn mostly away from homes - away from me.

Today there were 10 helicopters and 5 fixed wing attacking. At times the helis were flying over in convoys one right after the other. There is a reservoir nearby where they are reloading. Close enough that turn around time is minutes.

Well, good luck with that. Hopefully California will get early rains this year. Rarely it can be September, sometimes October, last year, almost not at all. More likely to be early in Pacific Northwest, northern California, maybe central California.
