Considering that we are a couple or few years past the peak of the solar cycle, the sun is really active today and yesterday. X9.3 flare today, radiation storm with radio blackouts starting yesterday, watch for strong geomagnetic storm later today and/or tomorrow. Radiation storm only a problem for high altitude jets at high latitudes, and maybe the space station (??). Not sure what areas are affected by radio blackouts (may be short wavelength radio??).

There were about 3 intervals of Kp8 severe magnetic storms the last couple of days but looks like it is all quiet now.

I recall one story headline a couple days ago about Irma heading for Mara-a-Lago. My thought was someone would claim it was Hillary using weather manipulation technology.
