M4.3 in my thesis area. I'll make a figure of the nearest seismic reflection profile tomorrow. There have been three M3+ quakes offshore southern California in areas where I have mapped in the last couple of days, including one between Catalina Island and Long Beach in the last few minutes. I wonder if this is a coincidence or if something is going on.

Probably my brain has been trained to see patterns, even if they are not meaningful.

Hi Chris:
Maybe our brains are fooling us...but I do see several quakes in an area that has been pretty quiet for years.
Worth keeping an eye on!

It is sometimes very hard to NOT see a pattern in things. Our brains are really wired for it.

But yes, I noticed these quakes as well. Most likely nothing will come of it, but interesting to see quakes in unusual places. Keeps us awake in a good way.

Another quake I noticed recently is the one out in the middle of the South Pacific. I think one of the YouTube cranks is claiming this means the entire Pacific plate has come loose from the mantle and an uber-massive quake is about to destroy us all. Again.
