M7.6 Caribean-North America - Island Chris - 01-10-2018 https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/us1000c2zy#executive The left-lateral transform plate boundary between the Caribbean and North American plates had a M7.6 strike-slip earthquake. The E-W nodal plane is left lateral, and the aftershocks are aligned E-W, so must be the plate boundary. Same plate boundary that goes near Jamaica, cuts through Hispaniola, and changing to oblique subduction then subduction, beneath Puerto Rico and the islands farther east. Chris |
