Malaysia quake kills and strands climbers - Island Chris - 06-06-2015 I saw the M6.0 on the map, but did not realize it was deadly until I saw this CNN story: http://www.cnn.com/2015/06/05/asia/malaysia-kinabalu-quake/index.html It is a shallow oblique normal slip quake: 13 km depth. Perhaps what is interesting about this is the landslides and that it is monsoon season. Landslides in a California quake might be worse if the ground is very wet (if the water table is up).
