National Geographic: "The War on Science" - Island Chris - 03-06-2015 The March National Geographic has a cover story "The War on Science" The link is to some of the text and a reproduction of an actual 19th century map title "the square and stationary earth" http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/2015/03/science-doubters/achenbach-text One of the points in the article is that having more education does not make any difference in what you believe. I don't think any of this is harmless: I see it as slippery slope to witch burning, Nazis, ISIS. Although I have not thought this out in any detail. I was hemming and hawing over doing so myself. It's also the cover article to the March issue. I've been a subscriber to NatGeo for over 35 years. Anyway, this reminds me I need to finish up my letter to the editor regarding this article. I have few points to add. Brian |
