Oklahoma has as many quakes as the West Coast? - Skywise - 05-18-2014 I was taking my regular look at the USGS map, and noticed something. It appears Oklahoma is now getting as many quakes as the entire west coast!!! I was comparing M2.5+ 30 days. The west coast included quakes in 11 western states, northern Baja, and Vancouver Island. There were 108 quakes listed. Oklahoma alone has 102. I still haven't figured out how to successfully post USGS map links. No matter the method, they don't seem to work. Even when I use the formatted code function to post them they come out munged. I guess we'll just have to use a link shortening site, such as http://goo.gl/ For example, this SHOULD take you to the view I've bookmarked for myself to look at CA/NV quakes - http://goo.gl/ZG2dLM - although these are not permanent. I tested it before posting it, and it worked then as it still does now. For me anyway. hmmmm.... It takes me to the USGS search page, not to the results of a search. That's weird. It takes me to a map, zoomed to the west cost of the US. Anyone else reading this that can chime in? Brian |
