But what I want is a list of date/times to check. Trying to find them in old posts is confusing and error-prone. Or a list of locations which I assume are sun/moon locations. Roger RE: A Fair Test 8 / 2 / 2017 - Duffy - 02-11-2017 Roger I thought your post of 08:52 pm yesterday was implying you could select a period of time, and two different co-ordinates, then the program would tell you how many hits were recorded in said period. But you didn't know if the answer was right because the numbers involved were to big to check manually i.e. you were not confident the numbers were correct. You never said anything about dates and times .. I have spent my Saturday meticulously going through 152 earthquakes to make sure they remained within 1 degree, so you could check your program against my January results. But what the heck .. I need the practise anyway right ! If you want dates and times and locations, go to the " Joining the seismic dots" thread, and select the fifth post down dated 01-18-2017, 12:35 am. The table at the top of the post is the data I used in the test ... is there anything else you need ? Duffy RE: A Fair Test 8 / 2 / 2017 - Roger Hunter - 02-11-2017 (02-11-2017, 07:35 PM)Duffy Wrote: Roger Duffy; Yes, that's what I said. The post you mention has 9 different dates and corresponding sun and moon locations. Is this the table you want me to test my program against? I mentioned date/times because one program takes them and gets sun and moon locations then checks quakes against them. The other program takes sun and moon locations and tests quakes against them. Roger RE: A Fair Test 8 / 2 / 2017 - Duffy - 02-11-2017 Roger; Yes, please test this table. Hits are indented and distance from 90 degrees is noted. Are these geographic locations sensitive in and of themselves so date/time is not important and I can test ALL quakes against them? Or are these points sensitive temporarily because the sun and moon were there at a particular time and only quakes in that time period can be used? Because if it's the latter then we'll never be able to establish proper odds. The samples will be too small. Roger RE: A Fair Test 8 / 2 / 2017 - Duffy - 02-12-2017 Roger A winter storm keeps knocking my power off, I'll get back to you when it is stable. Duffy RE: A Fair Test 8 / 2 / 2017 - Duffy - 02-12-2017 Roger The following table is the one I used in the test, it includes dates, times and locations. I used a +/- 1 degree margin of longitude, for the sun and moon position from the geocentric point of the locations. The margin for geocentric point to sunrise/sunset bands is 0.75 degrees. 4th Jan 19:54 ut ... CS 117' 12' W - 22' 38' S CM 40' 19' W - 1' 23' S 6th Jan 01:41 ut ...
